23 Jan The key to true change
At the beginning of a new year many people are focused on their goals and resolutions to do new things and be a better person. But change does not come automatically. It is not the ticking over of the clock to a new date that brings true change in your life.
Real, lasting change happens when our eyes are opened to God’s truth and we start believing that in our hearts.
Here is an excellent prayer to pray for yourself and others this year:
Ephesians 1:17-19 (NKJV)
I pray … “that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him, 18 the eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, 19 and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe, according to the working of His mighty power.”
What do we pray for here? That our understanding will be opened to three things:
- The hope of God’s calling on your life,
- The richness of His inheritance in you, and
- His great power working in you.
Our spiritual eyes must be opened to the spiritual realm. When you’ve done all you can in the natural and in your own strength and the problem persists, you can be sure the root of it is spiritual. It needs a spiritual solution, not more will power or brute force.
What is in your heart is what you will attract into your life. May your heart-beliefs be filled with an awareness that you are called, that you are endowed with His riches and that His incredible power is available to you!
The Passion Translation of Ephesians 1:18 puts it brilliantly:
“I pray that the light of God will illuminate the eyes of your imagination, flooding you with light, until you experience the full revelation of the hope of his calling—that is, the wealth of God’s glorious inheritances that he finds in us, his holy ones!”
