25 Jun The basis for hope
Hope. Without it we become despondent and merely drift through the minutes of daily life. With hope, we can smile at the future and weather the storms.
Romans 15:13 (NIV)
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
This verse reminds me of a mathematical equation: something plus something equals something else.
Joy + peace = hope
Can you see it? But even joy and peace needs to come from somewhere. Again, the verse tells us where it comes from. Joy and peace comes from trusting God.
So the origin of our hope for the future is that we trust God. Another word for trust is faith. We trust in God when we believe in Him. We believe in who He is – in His goodness, His love, His faithfulness and so much more. This trust brings joy and peace into our hearts which in turn leads to hope. The Bible-kind of hope is a confident expectation of good.
May hope overflow in your heart today as you put your trust in God! Jesus Christ is proof of His love and faithfulness towards us.
Stay blessed. You remain in our prayers.
