15 Oct Nothing can separate you from His love
Many times we feel our sins are so big and disgusting that forgiveness is beyond our reach. However, Paul draws this conclusion in the book of Romans:
Romans 8:1–2 (NIV)
Therefore, there is now NO CONDEMNATION for those who are in Christ Jesus, 2 because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death. (Emphasis mine)
In giving you the gift of grace and righteousness Jesus met the full requirements of God’s Law (some of you know it as the 10 Commandments). We could never meet these requirements (James 2:10, Matt. 5:17, Gal. 3:10 -13, 18 – 29, Col. 2:14). That is why we should stop insisting to pay for a gift that has already been paid for.
Jesus cried out on the Cross: “It is finished!” Translated that literally means: “It is paid for!” In other words: the deal is completed. All the legal requirements have been fully met. The price you and I should have paid for our failures and sins was a debt we could not pay. It is like asking the poorest of the poor person in your city or town to carry the monthly payments for the biggest and most expensive house in your city. That person will fall miserably short. But then a saviour steps in and says, “I will pay it!”
My friend that is what Jesus has done! He came and He paid the price on our behalf. Yes, He didn’t have to. Nobody forced Him to do it. But He did. He gave us the biggest and most expensive gift ever given in the history of our universe – Himself, the Darling of Heaven. Listen to the Holy Spirit’s brilliant conclusion to Romans chapter 8:
Romans 8:38–39 (NLT)
38 And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. 39 No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.
My friend, I hope you can see why God’s gift of righteousness is the gift that keeps on giving! When the veil was torn God declared that nothing can separate you from His love. When God says nothing – He means NOTHING!
Today you can rest assured that God loves you – no matter what! You don’t have to earn it or try to deserve it! It is a free gift. All you have to do is to receive it!
