John 8:29–30 (NKJV)
29 ‘And He who sent Me is with Me. The Father has not left Me alone, for I always do those things that please Him.’ 30 As He spoke these words, many believed in Him
Listen to the words that Jesus spoke: ‘…for I always do those things that please Him.’
There are ‘those things’ we do that please our heavenly Father. Do those things make God love us more? Of course not! God loves us unconditionally. I don’t know about you, but if I can do something that pleases my wife or kids – I won’t hesitate to do it. Why? Because love is my motivation – not acceptance!
I think the church needs to wake up to the fact that when Jesus said ‘It is finished’ on the cross – He did not say ‘your job here on earth is finished!’ No church, we have a clear mandate: Go and make disciples of all the nations!
It only means that we start at the finish line. In other words – our salvation is secure. We don’t have to work for our salvation anymore, but that doesn’t mean we stop working to see that the world comes to salvation.
- Let’s commit to be a Kingdom-building church.
- Let’s commit to be an evangelizing church.
- Let’s commit to bring the lost home to Christ.
Freely we have received this wonderful gift of salvation, let’s freely go and share it with the world! That is true love.
