07 Mar Abolition – The Wisdom of Saving
God raised Joseph up to rule over Egypt and save great multitudes and many nations from starvation. He gained this position by explaining to the Pharaoh that there will be seven years of great abundance and bumper crops. This will be followed by seven years of drought and failed harvests.
How did they get through this time? By applying the wisdom God gave Joseph. During the seven years of abundance, they saved up provision for the seven years of Famine.
As a charismatic my instinct would be to pray against the seven years of famine. Is it not true that God is a good God who blesses His people 24/7? Yes, it is!
(Philippians 4:19, NIV)
And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.
He takes care of us, often extravagantly. The problem is that we sometimes miss what we should be doing with His provision. In times of abundance we should follow Him as carefully as we do in times of famine. If we do, famine will not hurt us! Let’s rely on His wisdom regarding saving as much as on His wisdom in being generous.
Let’s pray: Lord Jesus, the Bible says that You are my Wisdom. I lean into Your wisdom today. Thank you that You provide for my every need out of Your riches. Please help me to know how to apply each bit of money and goods that You bless me with. If it is seed to sow, I will sow. If it is provision to save, I will save. I choose to be free from lack today. I choose to be free from debt. I look to You for practical wisdom and guidance. I receive the freedom You give in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
