04 Mar Abolition – Open Eyes
Isaiah 61:1 (NKJV)
“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me,
Because the Lord has anointed Me
To preach good tidings to the poor;
He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,
To proclaim liberty to the captives,
And the opening of the prison to those who are bound;
Before we can talk about money, marriage, relationship or anything else we need to be established in the truth that God wants us free. Freedom is a cheap word for many people. Politicians use it to win votes. Advertisers abuse the word to get new customers. But we need to understand that freedom usually comes at a cost. Your spiritual freedom cost God His Son and cost Jesus His life.
Jesus came to set captives free! Now we know that Jesus did not go around setting physical captives free. This means that being captive, being a prisoner, was a spiritual state! That means that you can be a Christian, you can even go to heaven – but in this life YOU CAN STILL BE THE SLAVE OF SOMETHING! There are 20 references in the New Testament of the word “bondage”.
The Amplified translation of verse 1 says: “…the opening of the prison and of the eyes to those who are bound…”
Freedom starts with what you can see. You will never truly be free if you cannot see yourself as free. My prayer is that your eyes will open today and that you will see yourself free from debt. See yourself free from addiction. See Jesus as the One who paid the price for your freedom. It may seem simple but my friend, David defeated Goliath with a simple slingshot and a stone. Giants topple when we believe.
Let’s declare: Thank you Jesus that You paid the price for my freedom. I declare today that through Your finished work on the cross, I am free in every area of my life! Thank you Lord Jesus that today I can make the decision that I shall lend, but not borrow. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
