27 Jun A New Name
There is a lot of significance in a name. Maybe you inherited a family name. Or your parents chose a certain name with a specific meaning just for you. We find this in the Bible too. Often when God did something significant in someone’s life He changed their name. Abram became Abraham; Sara became Sarah; and Jacob became Israel. Do you know that God also gave YOU a new name when you became born again?
Ephesians 3:14-15 (NKJV)
For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, 15 from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named.
Before you got saved you were called ‘sin’, ‘weakness’, ‘addiction’, ‘prone to illness’, ‘poor’ and so on. Your name was whatever you had inherited from the first Adam. On the Cross Jesus Christ took on Himself all the anger and punishment, hurt and sickness that your sin deserved. Now that you are His child, you are named after Him.
When the enemy calls you ‘depression’ or ‘sickness’ or ‘dumb’ don’t respond. That is not your name anymore! You now have God’s name. When you carry someone’s name, you carry their authority. In Christ you are called ‘overcomer’, ‘victorious’, ‘free’, ‘whole’, ‘wisdom’, ‘healed’ and so much more.
So today when the enemy and the world wants to come and label you with any name that doesn’t belong to Christ, don’t respond because you are not called that anymore. Remain secure in your new identity as a child of the Most High God.
